While most Filipinos were probably asleep, President Duterte and his Cabinet were still working hard at past midnight in Malacañang even after attending four previous public engagements.
Included in the national security meeting that lasted until early Tuesday was Duterte’s close ally, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. The defeated vice presidential candidate is being considered as the next Foreign Affairs Secretary once the one-year appointment ban for candidates expires next May.
“Blessed to have a very hard working President. At 1am after numerous meetings and events he is still leading discussions in this briefing. GOD Bless PRRD! GOD Bless The Philippines!” Cayetano captioned a snap of Duterte during the meeting.
The late-night meeting came on the eve of Duterte’s planned state visits to Cambodia and Singapore from December 13 to 16.
