President Duterte visits Midsayap blast victims yesterday
MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato— President Duterte is expected to visit blast victims here today following a grenade attack in front of the Catholic Church here on Christmas Eve.
At least 17 persons, some reports say 14 and 16, were injured, one of them lost a leg, after two men on motorbike lobbed a hand grenade under a parked Midsayap PNP patrol car along Roosevelt Street, in front of Sto Nino parish Church.
A Christmas Eve mass was going on when the explosion occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
One of the victims Rigor Pedrozo, 27 of Barangay Poblacion, was rushed to Davao City for further medical treatment.
Other victims as listed by the police were Cheyserr Rosete, 28; Ronaldo Celis, 15; Arnel Silvano, 16; Jeanelyn Silvano, 31; Jufer Asis, 26; an elderly woman Leah Butan (critical); Costales Singco, 33; Jonel Orquiza, 14;Jessa Banlawi, 19; and Kent Robles Pacquiao, 16.
Butan who allegedly lost a leg was rushed to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, Midsayap town police chief, said other victims sustained minor injuries and were out of the hospital, except two or three persons.
