Bubot Sarvida, father of one of artist who supported the campaign of President Duterte, TJ Sarvida was shot dead on December 22, 2016.
Inquirer covered the killings happened during that night and they included in their article how Bubot Sarvida was killed by the suspect.
The two article from Inquirer and Radyo Inquirer claimed that Bubot Sarvida witnessed one of the killings of an alleged drug pusher during that night so the suspects followed Sarvida in his house and killed him.
The article also said that Mr. Sarvida’s wife was on the watch list.
After the article was published on the internet, some Netizens were confused and thought that Mr. Bubot Sarvida was a victim of extrajudicial killings or War on Drugs.
Jimmy Bondoc, a friend of TJ Sarvida slammed inquirer for their report about Mr. Sarvida.
According to Bondoc, the article wrote about Mr. Sarvida was false and they carried evidences that would prove that Sarvida was not a victim of vigilante groups like what the inquirer claimed.
Bondoc also said that the top newspaper put his friend TJ Sarvida in danger because of their false and malicious report.
He also asked the newspaper to withdraw the false information that they written about Mr. Sarvida.
TJ Sarvida also wrote an open letter for Inquirer, he narrated the real story behind the killing of his father Bubot.
He also asked the Inquirer to respect his father and stop politicizing the tradegy happened during that night.
TJ also said that his father and mother is a god-fearing person so it’s impossible that his family is involved in illegal drugs.
Even Mr. Daniel Sarvida, brother of the victim also slammed inquirer and others for destroying the image of his killed brother. He also thanked Bondoc for defending his brother from irresponsible journalism.
