Sundalo tumawag sa kanyang Ama bago siya mamatay sa bakbakan: “Wala na kong bala, Pa, pray for me. Baka hindi na matuloy yung kasal ko

A young soldier called his father to pray for him before he sacrificed his life for the country fighting against the members of the Maute Terrorist group in Marawi City last may 25.

Army Corporal Angelo Estores Jr, 25, father of two young kids, soon-to-be husband and a member of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFO) 5th mechanized battalion was killed May 25, while trying to get the weapon of his dead companion to continue his battle even he’s the only one left in their group.
On May 25, at about 1:00pm, Angelo called his retired soldier father Angelo Estores Sr. who survived the war against rebels in Jolo Sulu.

Jestoni Almeres, cousin of the hero soldier told newsline.ph recounted the last phone call between Estores Jr. and his father.
“Pa, Pray mo sa ako, murag dili na madayon akong kasal, tulo na lang mi nabilin ang siyam patay na,” (Pa, you Pray for me, my wedding might not push through, only three of us left here, nine of my companions are dead).

During the conversation, Estores Sr. gave an advise to his son who is already in a dangerous situation, “Jun, kung na trap ka ayaw ug gawas kung walay reinforcement (Jun, if you are trapped, don’t get out until reinforcement arrives).”
Estores Jr. informed his father that he’s already in an uncertain situation where he’s already cornered without ammunition and only three of them are left.

“ginakamang na naku ang 50-caliber pang, RPG ang ginatira sa amoa pang, wala na koy bala, patay na akong opisal, I-Pray ko ninyo (I am crawling towards the 50-caliber, they are firing us with RPG, I don’t have ammunition, my officer is dead, you pray for me).” Estores Jr. told his father

While Estores Sr. trying to direct his son what to do, Estores Jr. didn’t responded anymore and he only heard the volume of fire.
Despite of the doubts that his son is already dead, he only convinced himself that his son is only wounded in the battle. But one day after the last phone conversation between him and his son, the military command center informed him that Cpl. Angelo Estores Jr. is dead.

Estores Jr. was set to exchange “I do’s” with her girlfriend on June 29 in Pikit, North Cotabato, but the battle in Marawi City made it impossible because he already sacrificed his life for the country last week.

The people of Marawi City considers Estores Jr. as a hero for sacrificing his life to defend the people of Marawi.

Last week, the Maute Terrorist Group terrorized Marawi City and the government forces quickly conducted military offensive to reclaim the city
As of writing, 13 soldiers and four police officers was already confirmed killed in battle by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
